Inaugural ‘Inflection Award’ opens to emerging climate research pioneers

Thirty exceptional climate pioneers aged under 30 years from across the globe will be anointed winners of the newly announced inaugural ‘Inflection Award’ in Paris next year.

As Earth reaches dangerous levels of planetary warming and teeters on the edge of other climate tipping points, we urgently need to create an inflection point to reverse the trend and bring global temperatures back down.

The Inflection Award, which is backed by Quadrature Climate Foundation, has been announced to find the emerging climate experts whose work can create the much-needed inflection point.

The Award is organised by Marble which is a tech venture studio. It is open to anyone from anywhere in the world who is currently pursuing a PhD or has graduated with a PhD within the last 12 months. Applicants must be 30 years or younger at the time of applying, and be conducting research with climate-relevant impact, in any field of study.

The goal of the Award is to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world impact by offering resources, recognition, and a platform to accelerate their transition into roles that can truly make a difference.

Greg De Temmerman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Science Officer at Quadrature Climate Foundation, says: “Research holds immense potential for mitigating the effects of climate change through innovative solutions in emissions reduction, carbon removal, and adaptation. Yet, a significant barrier to realising this potential is the underutilisation of young, talented scientists who possess the skills and ambition needed to drive these solutions forward. Now, more than ever, we need the brightest minds working on breakthrough solutions.

“Supported by Quadrature Climate Foundation, the Inflection Award will recognise and celebrate 30 exceptional young scientists who are pioneering groundbreaking climate solutions.”

Awardees will receive: a fully funded trip to Paris for an exclusive event in March 2025; unique networking opportunities with startups, research institutions, investors, and industry leaders at the forefront of climate technology; a world-class bootcamp to enhance your pathways to impact; and career advancement opportunities and global recognition.

Applications are now open and close on 1 December, with winners announced in January 2025. The 30 winners will receive their awarded in Paris in March 205.

The Inflection Award is organised by Marble and backed by Quadrature Climate Foundation and the Breakthrough Energy Fellows.
